A few brief scenes, allows Annabeth Chase to speak and talk with the new demigods. She describes her missing boyfriend Percy Jackson, who had been missing for 3 days.
Jason, wakes up on a bus belonging to the Wilderness Survival School where 'the kids are the animals' as Leo puts it. They are going to the Grand Canyon. He has no memory, and is holding hands with a girl he doesn't know, Piper. She thinks, he is her boyfriend and she is his girlfriend, and Leo is his best friend. They are taking a trip to the Grand Canyon with their physco Coach Hedge.
Everyone else acts like they know him, but he doesn't think he knows them. Coach Hedge finally confirms he isn't crazy, because he'd never seen him before in his life. Coach Hedge later tells him that he was manipulating the Mist so that everyone thought they knew him.
Annabeth and a guy named Butch (son of Iris) arrive and take them to Camp Half-Blood after they fight storm spirits called venti. Coach Hedge, as result of the battle, is taken and while Jason, Leo and Piper are introduced to the Greek camp.
After some troubling events the three main characters are sent on a quest to release the goddess of marriage, Juno, from an earthen cage which the antagonist, we have learned is Gaea, is keeping her in to raise her eldest giant child.
